So keep the whipped cream and the foam. You’ll end up less hungry. This is based on the findings of the International Journal of Obesity. Coffee lovers, like you and me, can all smile now. After all, this is great news!

How long have you been holding back on the foam? How long have you been deprived of the yummy whipped cream? Well, it’s time you get back the cream in your drink. Enjoy that cappuccino with more froth. Go on! Place your next order of latte with cream. The foam in these drinks can make you feel full. You don’t have to worry about your next meal. Chances are, you won’t even want to eat at all.

Take A Look At This!

The study was conducted on 134 adults. They were all on a diet. The Dutch researchers had them eat 200 milliliters of foam. This has about 22 calories.

It’s the kind of foam that’s used in cappuccino and lattes. Yes, the kind of foam you normally avoid. The respondents were required to eat the foam from a spoon.

The respondents were divided into two groups. One group ate foam before and after a meal. This same group did the same thing before and after a snack. The other group didn’t eat foam at all. Related read: People Are Losing Weight With Bistro MD

Whipped Cream Isn’t The Enemy

As It turns out, foam isn’t the enemy. As a matter of fact, it’s okay to eat this. According to the study, foam mostly consists of “entrapped air.” This is the component that easily fills up the tummy.

The group of respondents that ate foam felt less hungry. They didn’t have much of an appetite after eating some foam.  So what happened to the other group?  It turned out that their appetite was bigger than the other group.

The researchers point out that the “entrapped air” has a lot to do with this. The “entrapped air” in the foam gives that feeling of fullness. Since foam is whipped, it consists mainly of air. So that air gives you that feeling of fullness.

It’s the same thing with popcorn. You instantly feel full after eating some. Thanks to the “entrapped air.”

The study also shows how the mind reacts to food intake. The mind can easily be tricked with an additional serving of food.  In this case, the additional food is the foam.  The mere action of taking in more food sends a signal to the mind. It simply tells the mind to stop eating. Related Read: People Are Just Loving Diet To Go

It doesn’t really matter if the additional food is mostly air. It’s what’s instilled in the mind. The mere action of eating more food tricks the mind.  It tricks the mind to think that the body has had enough. This proves that the mind can play a big role in weight loss.

Keep This In Mind

Don’t get too excited. The study only proves you don’t have to skip the foam. It’s okay to order your next latte with foam. And it’s also okay to have a frothy cappuccino for breakfast.

Don’t get it all mixed up. You might end up gulping down a can of whipped cream. DON’T! You still need to be careful. There’s a lot of sugar in these kinds of creams.

You can also make your very own whipped cream. This way you can control the ingredients. For example, you can make a low-fat whipped cream with just gelatin and milk. There’s no need to add sugar with this recipe.

So the next time you order your latte, keep the foam.  Don’t feel guilty about it. After all, it can help curb your appetite. You won’t be too hungry for your next meal.

  1. There are a lot of ways to turn milk into a frothy foam. The microwave can help as well. Heat up a cup of milk for about 30 secs and it’ll come out frothy. Perfect for your coffee.

  2. I chill non-fat milk and use a battery operated foamer. It works really well. It beats the usual cappuccino I order all the time. It saves me some money as well.
